The Importance of pure water both for drinking and bathing.

Drinking water.

Almost everyone now realises that our tap water is not fit to drink!

The massive amount of chemicals, pesticides, hormones, xenooestrogens, lead, cadmium, copper, fluoride, mercury, nitrates, nitrites, barium, chlorine and its compounds, many of which are proven carcinogens and are made more destructive by being in combination with others, make for disease producing drinking and bathing water.

The solutions;

Nothing is a perfect solution- the ideal would be for us to be drinking pure mountain water that had never been subjected to any form of pollution etc etc

Bottled spa waters are expensive if we wish to use for cooking etc as well and most are in soft plastic bottles which means dangerous PCBs will leach into the water..

There are only 4 serious methods of water filter ( the usual jug filters and under sink ones only take out a few of the above)

  1. Replicated volcanic spa water filter – very expensive but a small manual variety is available to improve previously purified water. £80
  2. Distiller with added carbon end filter – gets everything out, sits on worktop but needs filling once or twice day – very pure water but does not taste great £235.00
  3. FW filter, under sink, gets most bad things out, does not remove minerals, water available through own tap so enough for drinking, cooking, enemas etc £249.49 or £366.98 for larger capacity.
  4. Reverse osmosis (my preferred method) gets virtually everything out , aids detoxification because it is so pure although some sceptics say because it is so pure one should sometimes drink mineral water to prevent leaching any from the body – tastes great (try mine here), available on tap for drinking, cooking, enemas etc, easy to fit, own tap and system fits in kitchen cupboard either under sink or next to it.£435.00
  5. Portable reverse osmosis for travelling etc

Amazingly useful as you can purify any water wherever you are of 99.9% of everything!!

No more buying bottled water anywhere you go!!

Have enough totally pure water to drink, brush teeth, wash vegetables etc even in the most difficult of countries! £225

All above subject to £9.40 delivery charge

Bath and showers.

The skin is the body’s largest organ .Therefore any chemicals or toxins which get through the outermost layer, the epidermis, affect very quickly the whole body.

Some area are more permeable than others – the scalp, forehead, abdomen, underarms, scrotum, lips and vaginal area and any wounded or infected skin are extremely permeable, as are areas of skin constantly assaulted by modern cosmetics containing large amounts of alpha hydroxy acids and other chemically exfoliating agents. Which are actually designed to make it more permeable in order to absorb the other ingredients. (as opposed to mechanical exfoliation such as dry skin brushing which whilst removing blocking dead skin cells, actually strengthens the skin and helps prevent absorption of negative substances).

Women who have higher fat ratios than men, are more prone to accumulate the toxins, and children are particularly prone as their skins are immature and very sensitive ( hence the huge increases in eczema in children recently)

The elderly are also at high risk since the skin tends to become weaker and thinner with age,

When skin cells are wet and warm their absorption capacity increase dramatically (that is why your body lotions/oils go in better after a bath) so that chemicals dissolved in bath water or shower water easily penetrate the skin.

Unfortunately our water supplies are now full of toxins, and some of them in combination not only increase their toxicity but also further increases permeability of skin.

In a study done by Donna Bishop ( a toxicologist working for the Massachusetts Dept of Environmental Quality engineering ) it was found that absorption of toxins by the skin was almost always greater than ingestion !!!!!, averaging 64% and in some cases up to 91%

Particularly harmful are chlorine, chloroform, trichloroethylene (all of which have been identified in drinking water). These have been shown to cause cancers.

However, the major threat caused by these water pollutants is as air pollution in the home according to a study by Dr. Julian Andelman.

He found that in the shower, when the temperature and chemical concentrations increase due to the decrease in shower head hole, volatisation increases, hot showers liberating 50% of the dissolved chloroform and 80%of the TCE into the air.

Chlorine, TCE, chloroform, and benzene are then readily absorbed through the lungs into the bloodstream.

The steam we inhale while showering can contain 50 times the level of chemicals than cold tap water due to the high vaporisation rate. Chlorine vapours were actually used as a chemical weapon in WW2. The inhalation of chlorine gases are strong irritants to sensitive tissue, and bronchial passages and it is suspected as a cause of asthma and bronchitis, especially in children. This has increased 300% in the last 20 years.

Dr. Lance Wallace of the U>S> Environmental protection agency believes showering to be the cause of elevated chloroform in nearly every home – surprisingly we often find higher levels of chlorine in our tap water than is recommended safe for swimming pools.

If chlorine is in your tap water, because it combines with organic substances, there will also almost certainly be chloroform, trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, carbon tetrachloride (dry cleaning fluid). Benzene, 1,1,1,trichloroethane, 1,2 dichloroethane, ethylene chloride, 1,1 dichloroethylene, cis1,2 dichloroethylene, vinyl chloride, trans1,2 dichloroethylene, chlorobenzene, dichlorobenzene, and trichlorobenzene.

Solutions;

Nothing is a perfect solution-

Although reverse osmosis is available for the whole house they are very expensive and because they remove everything the water then tends to leach minerals from your pipes and tanks, corroding them and you end up with high levels of copper etc in the bath water.

There are also filters that replicate purification and beneficial mineralisation by the best in the World volcanic spa waters, but these are even more expensive – about £5000!!!!

Whole house filter.

But there are filters available that treat all the water coming to the house that remove the chemicals. (they do not remove metals and minerals like reverse osmosis so it is best to also have a drinking water purifier – either reverse osmosis or fw system that leaves the minerals intact – see above)

The cheapest of these is £433.58.

They are fitted where the mains enters the house.

I am able to obtain 10% discount for any of my patients who wish to purchase one.

There is a £9.40 delivery charge.

Fitting is well explained and relatively straight forward, but can be arranged by a

specialist at a cost currently £125.
